Solidarity Through Volunteering: International Volunteer Day 2022

As every year, we continued our tradition and, together with the Foundation Older Brother, Older Sister, celebrated and marked International Volunteer Day on December 5th. The celebration was an opportunity to thank volunteers for their selfless commitment and for giving their free time to engage in socially beneficial activities. We chose Hub Homework as the venue for our gathering.

A team of volunteers also participated in creating fun content and games, making sure the program was interesting and enjoyable: I believe we fulfilled our original idea, especially since a large number of our volunteers showed up, and they enjoyed it more than expected, said volunteer Tajra Huković.
The main segment of the event was the parallel games played by volunteers in teams: “Ludo”, “Mikado”, “Cities and Villages”, “Truth or Dare”, and “Pictionary”. The main goal was fun, along with further bonding and familiarizing among volunteers.

To make this day memorable, we took creative photos with promotional materials reflecting volunteerism and sent a message to future volunteers. During the celebration, we enjoyed delicious fruit refreshments and non-alcoholic cocktails from Boombar.

We were curious about the impressions of the participants and what they liked most. Volunteer Selma Hamedović decided to volunteer because she wanted to get involved in something socially useful and says that she has partly fulfilled that goal. She came to the event with high expectations, and they were more than met:
Whenever I meet other volunteers, there’s always a pleasant atmosphere and positive energy, and that was the case today as well. We got to know each other better through various games, which I think is very important for our future cooperation and socializing. I would tell future volunteers that by doing good for others, they will also help their own growth and personal development.

We spent the last hours of our gathering playing board games, talking, dancing, and singing.
