Who Actually Wins?

Who Actually Wins? is a prevention program aimed at preventing youth involvement in
gambling, intended for the first and second-year high school students. The general goal of
this program is the prevention of gambling and the development of a responsible attitude
toward gambling and responsible behavior.
The specific goals of the program relate to positive changes in participants that we expect to
occur after participating in the program and thus affect the prevention of gambling:
– Improved knowledge of gambling and its consequences among youth

– Enchanced statistical understanding of odds, probabilities and concepts underlying
gambiling
– reduced cognitive distortions (misbeliefs) related to gambling
– improved problem-solving and decision-making skills, as well as resistance to peer
pressure
– strengthened feeling of general self-efficacy.

The program consists of nine workshops (one lesson each), with the first being an
informational-motivational session, and the remaining eight meetings have a workshop
structure. The program is implemented in high schools in the Sarajevo Canton and the Tuzla
Canton, conducted by trained teachers, instructors, and professional assistants with students
in the class once a week. In addition to working with students, there is one lecture held for
parents and teachers.
