The Addiction Prevention Competence Centre is an accredited association for international volunteerism, offering young people the opportunity to volunteer and participate in youth exchanges abroad, or for young people from abroad to volunteer in Bosnia and Herzegovina (sending and hosting) with continuous mentoring support. Young people can gain experience through the European Solidarity Corps, Weltwärts, and Erasmus+ programs. Volunteers are provided with accommodation, food, pocket money, insurance, travel expenses, and a language course in the country where they volunteer. Through the ESC and Weltwärts programs, the Addiction Prevention Competence Centre supported 42 volunteers from Bosnia and Herzegovina who volunteered in the following countries: Sweden, France, Germany, Spain, Norway, Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, and Malta. The Addiction Prevention Competence Centre also hosted three volunteers from Germany and Albania through the ESC, Weltwärts, and ROUTEWB6 programs.
The European Solidarity Corps (ESC) is a new European Union initiative for young people aged 18 to 30 It offers an inspiring and empowering experience for young people who want to help, learn, and grow in another country. Young people who want to participate in such activities need to register on the European Solidarity Corps portal, where they can find a suitable project and the country in which they want to volunteer. Projects supported by the European Solidarity Corps can last from two to twelve months. The Addiction Prevention Competence Centre collaborates with several organizations from the EU through the ESC program, most often with Pax Christi Aachen.
The Weltwärts program is a development political volunteer service of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), which since 2008 had enabled young people aged 18 to 28 from Germany to do volunteer service in one of the developing countrie. The goal of the program is to provide volunteer service for around 10,000 young people annually, with significant support from German non-governmental organizations. Since 2013, the program has also allowed young people from the region, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, to volunteer for a period of one year in one of the partner organizations in Germany. NARKO-NE is currently cooperating with the organization Friedenskreis Halle.
Erasmus+ is an EU program to supporting education, training, youth and sports in Europe. The European Commission is responsible for the implementation of the Erasmus+ program, managing the budget and determines the program’s priorities, goals and criteria. NARKO-NE currently has no active projects within the Erasmus+ program.
