What are you putting on the line?

Gambling in our society does not have negative connotations and stigmatization. It is a legal,
widespread, accessible and socially acceptable form of entertainment. Excessive gambling is
not only a financial issue. If gambling becomes a problem, it can affect the player's career,
family, and much more. The term gambling refers to any “game” in which there is a chance of
winning or losing money, the outcome of which we cannot predict. For most people, gambling
is an activity they engage in occasionally for fun. Gambling includes bingo, scratch cards,
lotto, sports betting, various slot machines and casino games such as roulette, ainc, etc.
Gambling means any form of game in which you risk losing money or some valuable items,
with the aim of monetary/valuable gain. The outcome of the game is mostly influenced by
luck. The Association for Addiction Prevention NARKO-NE, in addition to the preventive
program Who Actually Wins? which it implements in high schools in the Sarajevo Canton and
Tuzla Canton, also runs the media campaign What are you putting on the line? aimed at
raising awareness among citizens about the impact gambling has on the lives of individuals
and families. The campaign seeks to influence the attitudes, norms, and behaviors of the
community regarding gambling/games of chance and to prevent the development of
problematic gambling.

Key campaign messages:
1. Time and money lost by gambling cannot be recovered
2. Gambling profits are not "easy money" because in total you invest more than you win
3. “Talent”or reliance on previous gambling outcomes is not a prerequisites for a guaranteed
win.
4. Gambling is not the answer to problems, the need for fun/excitement or escape from
boredom, companionship, risk and it is not glamorous
