Thirteenth Training on the European Prevention Curriculum Held in Sarajevo

Quality prevention cannot be the responsibility of an individual alone. It requires the cooperation of society as a whole. With this goal in mind, the Association for Addiction Prevention NARKO-NE brought together key stakeholders in the field of addiction prevention through a training on the European Prevention Curriculum (EUPC).

During the two-day training, participants were presented with a concise overview of all currently available and scientifically validated approaches to addiction prevention, tailored to different target groups and areas of work – from schools and families to workplaces and local communities, as well as the environment and the media.

The training was held in Sarajevo 26. on August 26 and 27, 2025, at the Radon Plaza Hotel. The training was led by NARKO-NE’s Executive Director, Amir Hasanović, and Deputy Executive Director, Andrea Mijatović, who connected theory with practice in an interactive and dynamic manner.

The European Prevention Curriculum was developed with the intention of providing decision-makers, policymakers, and practitioners with essential knowledge about the most effective evidence-based prevention approaches. In this way, the risk of using outdated and ineffective methods— which can cause more harm than good— is reduced.

By organizing the EUPC training in Sarajevo, NARKO-NE continues its mission of strengthening the prevention system in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Each new training contributes to empowering professionals and enabling more informed decision-making regarding the programmes that are funded and implemented. The goal is clear: to reduce the health, social, and economic consequences associated with the use of psychoactive substances and to build a society that invests in quality and effective prevention.
