In October 2023, the volunteers of the Boombar project began their one-year engagement filled with various activities, workshops, training, and social events. During this time, they demonstrated dedication, commitment, and a desire to develop life skills and promote healthier lifestyles.
Project coordinators Azra Halilović and Anisa Čelik Raščić worked with the volunteers through a series of workshops on skills such as teamwork, assertive communication, critical thinking, and many others. With the support of our external collaborators, Nerma Daut-Bajramović and Alma Hadžiskakić, the volunteers also had the opportunity to work on stress coping strategies and emotional management.
In addition to skill-building workshops, the volunteers actively participated in various events where they prepared non-alcoholic cocktails as part of the Boombar bar, promoting healthier ways of entertainment and socializing. This hands-on experience allowed them to acquire practical skills applicable in everyday life.
The final workshop of this cycle was held on September 14, 2024, where the volunteers, through interactive methods, had the opportunity to work on building self-esteem and a positive self-image. The entire cycle was evaluated, and the volunteers received well-deserved certificates.
Through the completion of the volunteer cycle, our volunteers not only learned a lot about themselves and community work but also made significant contributions to promoting healthier habits in society. Volunteers Lamija Čavčić and Lana Lucević shared their experience of being part of the Boombar project.
Being a Boombar volunteer is a very interesting experience. Throughout the entire cycle, there was a very pleasant working atmosphere. It was a place where we all felt special. The process of making the non-alcoholic cocktails was educational, and I think many of us now make the same cocktails at home. The whole cycle was very interesting and useful. – Lamija Čavčić
In addition to working with non-alcoholic cocktails, we work on ourselves and develop many skills—communication, teamwork, confidence, and many others. – Lana Lucević
The dedication and enthusiasm of the volunteers demonstrated that young people truly want to be active participants in building a healthier and higher-quality society. It is up to us to continue providing support and opportunities for young people to contribute to a better and brighter future for Bosnia and Herzegovina through their engagements.
