Another Training Held for New Facilitators of the Who Actually Wins? Program in Tuzla

Within the gambling prevention program for children and youth Who Actually Wins?, a training for new program facilitators was held in the Tuzla Canton from January 20 to 22, 2026. The training was implemented with the support of the Pedagogical Institute of the Tuzla Canton, representing an important step in strengthening systemic support for preventive activities in the school environment.

The team of trainers consisted of associates of the Addicition Prvention Compentence Centre, Sanela Pekić and Kerima Delibašić, as well as external associate Prof. Dr. Meliha Bijedić, a full professor at the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation of the University of Tuzla. The three-day training was organized with the aim of empowering school counselors and teaching staff for high-quality preventive work with children and youth in the field of gambling and games of chance. Through a combination of theoretical and practical work, participants gained knowledge and tools necessary for the successful implementation of program workshops in secondary schools, with a special focus on developing preventive competencies and understanding contemporary challenges faced by children and young people.

Special attention during the training was devoted to a detailed introduction to the Who Actually Wins? program manual, which offers clearly structured and age-appropriate workshops. In addition, the broader social context of gambling in Bosnia and Herzegovina was addressed, including topics such as behavioral addictions, the influence of the gambling industry, children’s and youths’ exposure to gambling-related content, as well as potential consequences for mental health and everyday functioning.

The program’s objectives are aimed at increasing young people’s knowledge about the risks of gambling, developing their socio-emotional skills, and encouraging responsible and conscious behavior when engaging in games of chance.

The training was interactive in nature, and participants had the opportunity to exchange practical experiences, discuss challenges in working with secondary school–aged youth, and test various methods and approaches to preventive work through practical exercises.

Another training held in the Tuzla Canton represents a significant step toward expanding and strengthening sustainable preventive activities in schools. There are now 45 trained facilitators of the Program in the Tuzla Canton.
