On Thursday, September 25, 2024, a training session was held for the new cycle of the Guiding Stars program, which begins its activities in October. This year, 14 volunteers from the previous cycle continue to serve as guiding stars, and they are joined by seven new enthusiastic young people. 

The program coordinator, Kerima Delibašić, used the introductory training to help the volunteers connect, improve their teamwork skills, and explain what lies ahead in this cycle. 

The training was held at the NARKO-NE Association premises, and the volunteers got to know each other through various activities aimed at improving communication and cooperation in the tasks that await them. 

 The volunteers will conduct workshops with children in primary schools on topics related to addiction prevention, as well as provide support in learning and mastering school subjects. 

Aiša Mujačić shared her impressions of why she decided to continue volunteering with the Guiding Stars: 

 When I first applied for this project, I just wanted to try volunteering and then maybe choose something else, somewhere else. However, last year was really great for me; I gained new skills, and I think there’s still room for me to improve them, which is why I decided to continue for a second year. I really like the environment, the team, the coordinator, and her approach to the project. 

Asja Aletović, a volunteer who is starting as a guiding star this year, also shared her impressions and expectations: 

I enjoyed the activities through which we got to know the other members. The games that allowed us to discover some of our own traits and how we would act during the game made us laugh, which created a more relaxed and interesting atmosphere. From this cycle, I expect to gain knowledge and experience in working with children, an opportunity to make a difference in a child’s life, as well as new projects and acquaintances that can enrich my participation in the program. 

We are excited to have another excellent group of volunteers this year who will do something positive for their community while also contributing to their personal growth and development.
