{"id":13665,"date":"2025-09-16T05:46:47","date_gmt":"2025-09-16T04:46:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/prevencija.ba\/call-for-volunteers-in-the-older-brother-older-sister-programme\/"},"modified":"2026-02-19T12:05:51","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T11:05:51","slug":"call-for-volunteers-in-the-older-brother-older-sister-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prevencija.ba\/en\/call-for-volunteers-in-the-older-brother-older-sister-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Volunteers in the Older Brother, Older Sister Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Become part of the change \u2013 be an \u201colder brother\u201d or \u201colder sister\u201d to one child!<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The<em> Addiction Prevention Competence Centre<\/em> is announcing a call for young people aged 20 to 30 to volunteer in the <em>Older Brother, Older Sister programme <\/em>\u2013 a unique mentoring programme that changes the lives of children, as well as the volunteers themselves!<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Older Brother, Older Sister<\/em> is a long-standing mentoring programme that connects volunteers with children at risk, aged 6\u201314, with the aim of providing:<br\/>\u2022 emotional support,<br\/>\u2022 friendship and a positive role model,<br\/>\u2022 opportunities for a healthy, happy, and active childhood.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through spending time with you, a child gains the opportunity to feel a sense of belonging, safety, and support that they may not have in their everyday life. Your time and attention can make a real difference. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What does it look like in practice?<\/strong><br\/>If selected, you become an \u201colder brother\u201d or \u201colder sister\u201d to one child, and your responsibilities include:<br\/>\u2022 A two-day introductory training (October 11\u201312, 2025)<br\/>\u2022 Regular meetings with the child, planned together \u2013 walks, conversations, help with homework, sports or creative activities<br\/>\u2022 Two monthly support meetings with the professional team \u2013 one advisory meeting and one workshop for volunteers<br\/>\u2022 Occasional joint activities for all volunteers and children (excursions, workshops, games)<br\/>\u2022 A minimum of 15 hours of active engagement per month<br\/>\u2022 Reimbursement of meeting expenses \u2013 a small allowance for your activities together<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you want to do something meaningful and socially beneficial, be a source of support for a child who truly needs it, develop yourself, learn, and become part of a community of young people who share similar values \u2013 the <em>Older Brother, Older Sister<\/em> programme is the right opportunity for you!<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Who can apply?<\/strong><br\/>Young people between the ages of 20 and 30 who can dedicate around 15 hours per month from October 2025 to June 2026.<br\/>The application deadline is September 30, 2025  9. 2025. These stories of friendship, trust, and growth continue to this day.<br\/>You don\u2019t have to be an expert.
