Work has Begun on Developing a Comprehensive Strategy for Addiction Prevention in Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The process of establishing standardized prevention and investing resources in effective and efficient interventions in this area began with the first meeting of the Working Group for the development of the Comprehensive Strategy for Addiction Prevention in Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) 2024-2034, held in Sarajevo on April 30th.

The Working Group consists of representatives from the Federal Ministry of Education and Science, which initiated the group, as well as the Ministry of Justice of FBiH, the Ministry of Health of FBiH, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of FBiH, and the Ministry of Culture and Sports of FBiH.

The Association for Addiction Prevention NARKO-NE is a partner in the entire strategy development process and will provide expert and technical support.

At the meeting, the issues and the need for creating such a comprehensive document were analyzed once again.

The strategy will be based on the European Prevention Curriculum, and during the initial meeting, it was particularly emphasized that efforts will be directed towards creating a strategy that will meet the real needs of Bosnian society and be applicable in practice.

The proposed preventive measures and activities in the strategy aim to contribute to reducing the costs associated with addressing addiction-related problems, which impact the sectors of health, education, social protection, internal affairs, justice, as well as society as a whole, and to provide better conditions for a safe and healthy life for children and youth.
