In the past school year, the program Who Actually Wins? was implemented in ten high schools in Tuzla Canton. In this regard, the Minister of Education and Science of Tuzla Canton, Ahmed Omerović, held a meeting with representatives of the Addiction Prevention Association NARKO-NE to discuss the continuation of their cooperation. The meeting was attended by Amir Hasanović, Executive Director of NARKO-NE, Sanela Pekić, Prevention Program Specialist at NARKO-NE, Zumra Šahović, Education Advisor at the Pedagogical Institute of Tuzla Canton, and Meliha Bijedić, Professor at the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation of the University of Tuzla.
Gambling and betting, as one of the greatest challenges in society, require significant attention and dedication. Therefore, it is essential that gambling prevention programs are effective and produce the expected results.
After the program was implemented in the previous school year, students overwhelmingly reported that the program was truly beneficial to them. Minister Omerović also expressed his satisfaction with the successful cooperation during the 2023/2024 school year.
Creating a healthy and safe environment is NARKO-NE’s primary goal. To achieve this, it is crucial to involve as many schools, children, and young people as possible in preventive programs.
At the meeting, it was decided that the cooperation on the program Who Actually Wins? will continue in the next school year, and the program will also be expanded to other schools in Tuzla Canton. This will allow for continued work on gambling and betting prevention, which should ultimately lead to a decrease in the involvement of children and young people in gambling.
